SPLIT 3 RECAP (WEEKS 5 & 6)

We’re halfway through the regular season of Phase 6. What have we learned? God is a woman. Valkyrie continues the greatest run the league will ever know while The top 4 managers continue to separate themselves. It’s her Kingdom to rule; is anyone brave enough to challenge it in Split 4?

Odell’s Rusty Hip

CURRENT RECORD: 6-0

Death, taxes, and another pair of wins for Odell’s Rusty Hip. She held on to her streak, extending it to 18 in a row, making her 6-0 on the season. Needing 1-2 more wins to mathematically secure herself a playoff spot (depending on other managers) just at the halfway point, the #1 Seed is hers to lose.

She’ll face two managers on a serious downswing in Split 4, featuring a combined 1-7 record in the last 2 Splits. There’s a strong possibility she makes it to 20+ wins and beyond.

TEAM G-MEN

CURRENT RECORD: 1-5

The struggles continue for the 2022 Finalist, losing both games in Split 3 with 4 straight defeats. He had a solid outing and nearly upset 2nd place. Despite the effort, he’s moved into last place, with the rest of his season looking grim.

We won’t declare him out of yet, but if we see more of the same in Split 4, he’ll be eliminated from playoff consideration in our next writeup.

SLEDGE HAMMER

CURRENT RECORD: 2-4

Losing 4 of the 5 previous contests, this is unfamiliar territory for the Mad Titan.  He squares off against the #1 Seed, followed up by the manager above him. He bested Peyton before, although circumstances have certainly changed.

Sitting 2 games back from playoff contention heading into the halfway point, Thanos is staring down the barrel of his first year missing the postseason. If he’s to remain in the hunt, he MUST pick up a win in Split 4.

IS THIS SOCCER?

CURRENT RECORD: 4-2

Back-to-back wins keeping him right in his 3rd place spot is just what this Doctor ordered. Don’t get too comfortable just yet. He’ll have his work cut out for him in Split 4, facing 2 current playoff teams.

While he hasn’t been blowing opponents away, he’s been the definition of consistency in a year where we’ve seen anything but. If he can snag a win or 2, he may very well lock himself into the postseason conversation.

BRADSHANK REDEMPTION

Current Record: 2-4

A 2-1 start gave us so much hope for her team. Right as Ekeler comes back, JJ exits onto injured reserve. Losing 3 consecutive games has put her near the bottom of the table once again.

Thankfully, she may get a reprieve, facing 7th and 8th place respectively this split. A pair of wins is a necessity if she’s to turn this season around.

SUH-TANG CLAN

CURRENT RECORD: 5-1

After a photo finish in Week 5, his Week 6 win came at a price, with his QB1 and RB1 going down with injuries. We don’t know the severity of either just yet, but even missing a little bit of time could prove dangerous. With 3 playoff teams in his next 4 contests, matched with a massive number of bye-weeks over that time, things have the potential to get rocky. He faces off against the former champion and current 1st place along with a 1-5 squad that could prove to be a game with the return of key receivers to their team.

He’s still a surefire championship contender, but his depth is certainly going to be tested in the coming weeks.

PEYTONS FOREHEAD SHINER

CURRENT RECORD: 3-3

After a tough loss in Week 5 and a game against a witch on the way, he was able to conjure up a spell of his own by looking to the holy scripture and reciting his AB(CD Lambs) on Monday night, finishing a 50+ point come from behind victory to defeat her. Funny enough, a win or loss in his Week 6 matchup would have made no alteration on his #4 Seed status. It’s hard to a call a win such as this meaningless, but it had little impact in the short term.

Facing the managers directly above and below him in the standings in Split 4, this is a big test for Peyton. Will he keep exchanging wins and losses? Or will he finally break out into the contender status he was projected at?

PULL THE LEVER, GRONK!

CURRENT RECORD: 1-5

Ladies and gentlemen, we got em. She secured her first win in Split 3 and nearly achieved a 2nd in Week 6. The impact of Cooper Kupp’s return cannot be understated. With him back and looking like his old self, she could be on her way back.

Taking on a potentially vulnerable Vision and a fellow struggling manager gives her an opportunity to turn this season around.
