2021 SFI Finals

CHAMPIONSHHIP WEEKEND RESULTS: ENDGAME PART 2

The Mad Titan has finally been dethroned. Iron Man takes an infinity stone for the first time, exorcising his 2020 demons and sitting alone at the top of the mountain in 2021. The trophy presentation will commence on Super Bowl Sunday, with our champion and two bowl winners being presented their hardware. We will return in September of 2022 with new team logos, a promo video, and maybe even a new avenger. I am Iron Man, signing off.

2021 Seel Family Invitational Championship

Sledge Hammer (10-5) - 351.26 vs Peytons Forehead Shiner (11-3) - 451.78

2021 SFI Champion:

Peytons Forehead Shiner (12-3)

As the burnt orange light cascades down, illuminating his reign of terror one last time, Thanos sits down and admires the end of glorious vision, as both he and his infinity stone quest turn to dust, accepting his demise like the true Titan he is. Thanos knew his end was nigh, what he didn’t know? That sun set he is staring into has a name; Amon-Ra St. Brown: the glorious sun god of Detroit. He has destroyed every fantasy manager in his playoff path up to this point. This was to be no different, but it was. Did he bring in his most trusted soldiers? No. Would it have saved him? No, and in some cases (such as AB, JJ, and Hollywood Brown) it would have made the disparity even greater. He had the Top 2 QB’s as his duo, Austin Ekeler, and Davante Adams. It still wasn’t enough. His gauntlet was stolen and used against him. It may be the end for The Mad Titan, but his reign will forever echo throughout the annals of fantasy history. Your dynasty may turn to dust, but it’s memory will not. The sun is getting real low, big guy. Rest easy, King.

Thanos may be inevitable, but Peyton is Iron Man. One final snap to flourish throughout all of fantasy time. Thanos destroyed his sidekick in Spider-Man in 2019, and bested his own sibling in the Scarlett Witch. This may have been for the greater good, but it was equal parts vengeance. He can finally put the crushing championship defeat of 2020 behind him. Performances from AJ Brown, Nick Chubb, Gerald Everett, the Dolphins D/ST, and Kyle Pitts in Week 16 were a death sentence for Thanos. However, consecutive big games from the Sun-God, Kyler Murray, and Sony Michel were the crushing blow. To top it off, Alvin Kamara and the Saints D/ST combined for nearly 40 points in Week 17. Where many others and even he has failed to stop the destruction the Mad Titan has caused, Iron Man gave his 2022 season to ensure success and hope for the future of the league. Due to the point disparity, there was nowhere for Thanos to hide. His rule was cruel and swift, but his destruction was even more decisive, with a 50+ point deficit after Week 16. Iron Man will secure his first championship with the largest playoff victory in league history. His trade deadline acquisition paid off, but that isn’t all that won him a championship. His waiver wire acquisitions gave him some additional firepower. Peyton did not wish to rule, relinquishing the infinity gauntlet he acquired altogether and instead opted to keep a single infinity stone for himself. The reign of darkness is over. We must all rejoice this victory. It doesn’t belong to Peyton alone, but all Avengers, as their quest to stop Thanos has finally been completed.

2021 Beach Pizza Bowl

Pull The Lever, Gronk! (8-7) - 485.82 (3rd) vs Odell’s Rusty Hip (10-5) - 322.46 (4th)

2021 Beach Pizza Bowl Winner

Pull The Lever, Gronk! (8-7)

She just couldn’t do enough to vanquish the Mad Titan on her own. However, she weakened him enough for her sibling in Iron Man to end him with one final snap of his fingers. Scarlett Witch was red hot with anger, putting up over 70+ points with Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins in Week 16. Not stopping there, Burrow put up another 30+ point performance in the following contest. She closed in on 500 total points, dashing the Rusty Hip’s 3rd place hopes. The Scarlett Witch amassed a 150+ point victory, securing a final position of 3rd and the Beach Pizza Bowl to boot. It wasn’t the illustrious championship she wanted, but she’ll still earn some hardware for her successful season. Expect nothing less than championship aspirations in 2022 for the red sorceress.

The Rusty Hip was been plagued with devastating injuries 2 years in a row, all coming at the wrong times. This matchup was no different, losing a considerable amount of starters to the COVID List. Before the injury to CMC, she was projected to win it all. Unfortunately, she fell in the first round in heartbreaking fashion to Iron Man. She ends the season in 4th place, her second best finish thus far. We could expect a championship caliber team next year if she’s able to finally break the injury habits that have affected her roster.

2021 Lueken’s Liquor Bowl Champion

Bradshank Redemption (8-7)

Final Position: 5th

The consolation bracket championship was decided over the course of a 4-week roulette, with the champion belonging the highest scoring manager in that period as there are only 3 managers left. They say good things come in 3s. Well, having the highest point total in the final 4 weeks, Bradshank Redemption clinched 5th place, the #1 Overall Pick, and the Lueken’s Liquor Bowl. It was a combination of injuries and underperforming seasons from her stars that kept her out of contention, but Hunter Renfrow’s connection with Derek Carr, as well as the emergence of Ja’Marr Chase brought her a victory in the consolation bracket. She’ll have a lot of tough decisions to make in 2022 with the first overall pick. Expect a return to postseason form in 2022 from Bradshank.

Team G-Men (7-8)

Final Position: 6th

While it was another lost season for the G-Men, his heavy investment in Tampa Bay and Arizona were fruitful, but he made several early rounds picks that did not bear any fruit whatsoever, setting him outside of the playoffs for the 2nd straight season.  He’ll hope to avoid missing them for the 3rd time in 2022.

Is This Soccer? (5-10)

Final Position: 7th

Despite coming up short in the regular season and consolation bracket (as England often does), Is This Soccer has a lot to look forward to in 2022. Selling Jonathan Taylor at the deadline has guaranteed him 6 picks in the first 3 rounds now that Peyton has secured a championship.
